The State Trading Organization (STO)'s expanded its list of regulated staples with 23 new items now available at controlled prices. From 15 October 2025, fruits such as bananas, apples, and mangoes, vegetables including onions, carrots, and potatoes, along with essentials like lentils, eggs and coconuts, can be purchased at STO People’s Choice outlets and Wholesale Centres. Prices are set in line with market rates and updated through the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade’s AguMagu portal. STO said the move ensures wider access to affordable and healthy food while maintaining fair pricing for consumers.
