Twenty medical graduates from the first batch of the Maldives National University (MNU) MBBS programme have completed their one-year internship at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

Throughout the internship, the graduates gained hands-on experience in patient care, emergency response, and the practical application of medical knowledge acquired during their studies.

The programme also provided them with exposure to real-world hospital environments, enhancing their clinical competence and confidence as future healthcare professionals.

IGMH extended appreciation to its consultants, clinicians, and other staff members for their invaluable mentorship and guidance, which played a vital role in the successful completion of the internships. The hospital stated that the graduates are now fully prepared to contribute to the national health sector and expressed confidence that they will help strengthen and expand healthcare services across the Maldives.

The Medical Internship Programme is a mandatory one-year placement designed to familiarise medical graduates with professional healthcare settings before obtaining a full medical licence to practise in the country.
