Hushiyaaru website ---
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has launched “Hushiyaaru,” a new disaster preparedness and risk communication website. The initiative aims to raise public awareness of disaster risks, provide timely alerts, and offer practical guidance to strengthen resilience across the Maldives.
Unveiled at the Viluntheri Fest, held to celebrate the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, the platform features information in five languages, including content tailored for people with special needs. It provides educational material, awareness videos, downloadable posters, and technical resources for schools.
According to NDMA, the website is part of the wider “Hushiyaaru” campaign under the Maldives Disaster Risk Reduction Strategy 2024–2030, which prioritises empowering communities for effective response. The campaign, run in collaboration with the Maldivian Red Crescent and other partners, combines outreach, education, and digital tools to support the Government’s vision of building a disaster-resilient Maldives.
