Police recover motorcycles worth MVR 6.88 million in September

The Maldives Police Service has reported that motorcycles worth MVR 6.88 million were recovered in September.
According to statistics released on Sunday, Malé Frontline Policing recovered a total of 109 motorcycles during the month, along with several other stolen or lost items. These included 13 mobile phones valued at MVR 154,562, eight electronic items, and 39 other valuables worth MVR 43,115. Police also recovered MVR 588,823 in 20 separate cases.
The report further stated that one case involving a foreign national has been handed over to the Maldives Immigration for further action.
In September, Frontline Police stopped and questioned 5,264 individuals. Of these, 4,776 had prior criminal records, while 488 had no criminal history. Police officers spent a total of 1,029 hours and 58 minutes on duty throughout the month.
A total of 109 criminal cases were recorded in September, with theft being the most common offence. These included 71 theft cases, 16 cases of brawling, 12 robberies and 10 accidents reported to the police.
The Malé Frontline Police also conducted 703 community interactions to address public concerns, resolving 187 cases. Of these, 137 were non-criminal matters, while 81 were crime-related.
The Maldives Police Service has expanded its efforts to ensure public safety, strengthening monitoring to track individuals involved in serious crimes and reduce the public’s exposure to criminal activity.
