A series of major development projects have officially commenced in Feydhoo, Addu City, with groundbreaking ceremonies held for a 500-capacity mosque, a futsal ground, road modernisation works, and a harbour development project. The events took place during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s ongoing visit to Seenu Atoll.

The mosque project, contracted to Fenaka Corporation, will accommodate 500 worshippers and aims to enhance community facilities on the island. The groundbreaking ceremony was officiated by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, joined by Fenaka Managing Director Mohamed Najah and local parliamentarians.

For youth and sports development, a new futsal ground was launched to provide a recreational hub for the community. The groundbreaking ceremony was led by Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar, State Minister for Sports Abdul Razzaq, and Feydhoo MPs.

Simultaneously, work began to modernise Feydhoo’s roads, prioritising routes near key public institutions and areas in need of repair. The ceremony was officiated by Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muththalib, alongside Road Development Corporation (RDC) Managing Director.

Additionally, the harbour development project was officially inaugurated by Minister Dr Abdulla Muththalib and Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) Managing Director Ahmed Saudhee. The project, contracted to MTCC, is expected to resolve long-standing challenges in marine access and vessel docking, providing a permanent solution for the island’s residents.
