The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has launched the "Malé Taxi Line" mobile application, aimed at making taxi services in the Greater Malé Region more accessible and convenient for the public.
MTCC said the application enables users to book taxis on demand and schedule rides in advance, with trips able to be arranged up to three hours before the intended departure time.
The company stated that the application is currently available on the Apple App Store, while the Android version is expected to be released on Google Play soon.
The application also provides multiple payment options, including an in-app wallet, bank card payments through a payment gateway and a Scan and Pay feature. Users can additionally view details of completed journeys and upcoming bookings through the platform.
To enhance passenger safety and convenience, the application includes an emergency feature for use during urgent situations. Users can also communicate directly with drivers through call and messaging functions integrated into the platform.
MTCC further noted that passengers can report lost items left in taxis through the application, making it easier to recover misplaced belongings.
While the mobile application is now available, taxi bookings can still be made through the Malé Taxi website and by calling the service hotline on 1655.
