Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen has announced that 90 individuals have been detained so far under Operation Alimagu.

Launched on the instructions of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, the operation began at 5:30 a.m. on Thursday and is described as one of the most extensive anti-narcotics efforts carried out in recent years. The operation mobilises specialised police units and regional teams to dismantle drug trafficking networks and identify those responsible for distributing narcotics within communities.

Police said Operation Alimagu will continue over the coming days, with 500 officers deployed to conduct searches at 100 locations across the country.
