A total of 344 students have graduated from the first batch of the National Service Initial Training.

The National Service Initial Training was launched on 1 October 2025, with an initial cohort of 350 participants. Of these, 344 successfully completed the first phase of training.

The graduation ceremony for the first batch was inaugurated by Minister of Defence Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon at the Composite Training Centre in Lhaviyani Maafilaafushi. A guard of honour parade was also held in recognition of the trainees who completed the programme.

The three month training programme is designed to instil Maldivian nationalism, responsible citizenship, religious values, leadership skills, and language proficiency. Physical fitness and exercise are included to promote health and well-being, while elements of military training are incorporated to strengthen discipline, character, and conduct.

In addition, trainees received instruction in first aid, firefighting, self-defence, camp activities, and basic military skills.

With the completion of the first batch, preparations are underway for the second round of the National Service Initial Training. The next intake, comprising 350 participants, is scheduled to commence in January.

The National Service Programme is a flagship initiative of the Administration and forms part of efforts to empower youth through structured training, education, and civic engagement. President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the programme will be conducted annually starting from 2025.
