Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC), in collaboration with the National Hotel and Guesthouse Association of Maldives (NHGAM), has launched the ‘I AM Maldives’ Roadshow 2025 across Central and Eastern Europe as part of efforts to strengthen the Maldives’ footprint in three emerging tourism markets: Poland, Romania and the Czech Republic.
The roadshow, held in Warsaw on 17 November, Bucharest on 19 November and Prague on 21 November, brings together travel industry professionals, tour operators, travel agencies and media representatives from the region. The initiative aims to expand market reach, enhance destination awareness and support long-term partnerships with regional travel trade stakeholders.
According to VMC, 26 exhibitors, including resorts, hotels, guesthouses, liveaboards and travel agencies, are participating in the event. The programme features presentations, destination briefings, one-to-one meetings and networking sessions, allowing Maldivian tourism providers to directly engage potential partners and share updates on the industry’s latest developments.
During the Warsaw session, NHGAM President Abdulla Nasheed noted strong interest from the Polish travel community, citing growing curiosity about locally rooted tourism products and the Maldives’ wider hospitality offerings. VMC CEO and Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree stated that the roadshow is part of a targeted effort to consolidate the Maldives’ presence in emerging European markets that continue to show steady year-on-year arrivals.
The initiative aligns with the Maldives’ national tourism target of 2.3 million visitors in 2025. As of 30 September 2025, the Maldives had recorded 86,860 arrivals from Central and Eastern Europe, slightly surpassing the 86,574 arrivals registered during the same period in 2024, indicating continued growth from the region.
Beyond promoting the destination, the roadshow also seeks to provide travel-trade partners with updated information on Maldivian tourism, conduct destination training and collect insights on traveller preferences, which VMC says will inform future market strategies.
