The High Commissioner of India to the Maldives, Munu Mahawar, paid a farewell visit to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, marking the end of his tenure.

The meeting, held at the President’s Office, underscored the progress in Maldives-India relations during this period of enhanced cooperation and shared commitments.

President Dr Muizzu commended the High Commissioner for his instrumental role in strengthening bilateral ties, noting that his tenure coincided with a transformative phase in the partnership.

He highlighted the successful revitalisation of Maldives-India relations, particularly through initiatives stemming from his recent State Visit to India in October, where both nations agreed on A Vision for Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership.

High Commissioner Mahawar reaffirmed India’s unwavering support for the Maldives’ development and praised the President's leadership and collaborative approach.

This partnership, he said, had paved the way for addressing shared challenges, implementing economic reforms, and enhancing social welfare in the Maldives.

Both leaders shared confidence in maintaining the strong progress achieved and highlighted opportunities to expand collaboration in the future.

President Dr Muizzu thanked the outgoing High Commissioner for his contributions, wished him success in his future endeavours, and expressed hope for continued cooperation with his successor.
