Business Centre Corporation (BCC), has stated that Authentic Maldives has disbursed a total of MVR 24.1 million to local suppliers this year.

Since its launch, Authentic Maldives has allocated a total of MVR 86.1 million to suppliers, making the MVR 24.1 million disbursed this year 27 per cent of the total payments made to date.

Over the past year, more than 3,000 products have been sold across various Authentic Maldives outlets, supporting the growth of local businesses. Currently, 338 businesses are represented in these stores, with 38 new suppliers joining in 2024. 60 per cent of these businesses are women-led, highlighting the significant contribution of female entrepreneurs to the local economy.

An e-commerce platform was also introduced in this year, allowing suppliers to access global markets and ship their products internationally, providing them with an additional sales channel.

Authentic Maldives is an initiative launched by the Ministry of Economic Development to support and promote authentic local products. With its operations managed by BCC, the stores serve as a platform for local suppliers to showcase their products.
