The Government has introduced a new feature on the Keyolhu platform that allows fishermen to check the availability of ice at ice plants.
The new service was officially inaugurated during a Fishermen’s Day ceremony attended by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed. The launch was carried out by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan.
The feature enables fishermen to view real-time information on nearby ice plants and the quantity of ice available directly through the Keyolhu application on their mobile phones.
Previously, fishermen had no centralised way to check ice availability, often resulting in time being lost as vessels travelled between ice plants to confirm supplies. The newly introduced feature is expected to reduce such delays and improve planning for fishing operations.
The Keyolhu platform is used by the Government to manage a range of fisheries-related services, including applications for fish and fish product licences, submission of fish purchase data by companies, and the issuance of catch certificates for fish exports.
