Bank of Maldives (BML)  has partnered with the Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) to offer the Sports Scholarship 2025, making it the third consecutive year the two institutions have collaborated on the initiative since it was first introduced in 2023.

The Sports Scholarship is aimed at supporting Maldivian athletes in achieving their sporting potential through structured development programmes. Under the arrangement, the Maldives Olympic Committee will manage the selection process, with nominations open to its member associations. The scholarship is fully funded and provides selected athletes with the opportunity to train at internationally recognised high-performance training centres.

BML Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef said the scholarship reflects the bank’s continued commitment to the development of athletes in the Maldives, noting that the partnership with MOC helps ensure the identification of dedicated and promising talent. He added that investing in athletes will strengthen the future of Maldivian sports and create pathways for international success.

MOC President Mohamed Abdul Sattar said the committee is proud to partner with BML for a third year, highlighting the role of the scholarship in investing in talent and shaping the future of sport in the country.

Since its inception, the Sports Scholarship has supported eight athletes in their professional development. BML has also been a long-standing supporter of national sports, including swimming, tennis, basketball and surfing, through strategic partnerships aimed at strengthening sports development nationwide.
