Minister of Foreign Affairs Iruthisham Adam has concluded her official visit to China and departed Yunnan Province on Friday after a series of high-level engagements aimed at strengthening cooperation between the Maldives and China.
During the visit, Minister Iruthisham participated in the Seventh China-South Asia Cooperation Forum and the Tenth China-South Asia Expo held in Kunming. Addressing the forum, she reaffirmed the Maldives' commitment to enhancing collaboration with China and other regional partners to promote mutual understanding, peace and stability across South Asia.
The Minister also held talks with Yunnan Province Governor Wang Yubo, focusing on opportunities to widen cooperation in areas including education, sports and people-to-people exchanges. She expressed appreciation for the province's continued support towards the Maldives' social and economic development.
In addition, Minister Iruthisham visited the China-South Asia Expo, where she met with Maldivian businesses showcasing their products and services at this year's event.
As part of her visit, the Minister also met with Maldivian students studying at Yunnan University and Maldivian professionals residing in Kunming.
