Thirty students who have memorised the Holy Quran are set to graduate as Hafiz on the 27th night of Ramadan, according to Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed.
Speaking about the programme, Minister Dr Shaheem stated that 21 students have already completed their memorisation and examinations this year, while assessments for seven additional candidates remain in progress. One more student is preparing to sit for the upcoming exam, taking the total expected graduates to 30. He noted that this represents an increase compared to last year’s figures, reflecting rising participation and improved support systems.
The Minister confirmed that the graduation ceremony will take place in March, coinciding with the 27th night of Ramadan. In addition to the graduating class, 42 Hafiz will receive the President’s Medal, awarded in recognition of the achievement of completing the Quran in full. The Government has also increased the allowance provided to Hafiz to encourage memorisation and support students undertaking religious studies.
Minister Dr Shaheem reiterated that developing a community of Hafiz remains a key policy priority under the current Administration. He stated that the Government intends to continue investing in Quran education, emphasising that expanding religious knowledge, protecting Islamic values, and promoting memorisation form an essential part of the President’s national agenda.
