President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that 96 massage parlours operating in violation of their licensed purposes have been closed as part of an enforcement operation underway since 9 December 2025.
The President shared the update in a post on his official X account, noting that the closures were carried out after authorities found the establishments were being used for illegal activities rather than the services for which permits had been issued.
In his post, President Dr Muizzu said it was regrettable that such practices continued to exist, adding that these operations persist because there are individuals who seek to benefit from them.
The President said that reducing immoral practices and activities prohibited under Islamic values depends on changes in intentions and actions across society. He emphasised that meaningful change can only be achieved when the public share a common stance on such matters.
He also called on the public to reject immorality and practices that go against religious principles, citing Surah Ar-Ra’d, verse 11, which emphasises that Allah does not change the condition of a people until they change what is within themselves.
