The Business Centre Corporation (BCC) is working to establish creator hubs nationwide as part of its efforts to strengthen small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and develop the creative economy.
Speaking to State media, Director of Investment and International Relations at the Business Centre Corporation, Mohamed Eeman, outlined key initiatives currently being implemented by the corporation.
He said BCC plans to set up a Creator Hub in Malé as well as similar facilities in islands across the atolls, aimed at providing essential services to artists and creative professionals throughout the Maldives.
“Our work is not limited to establishing a Creator Hub in Malé alone. We are also working to introduce similar services in islands across the atolls. These initiatives are very important for the development of a creative economy,” Eeman said.
He added that BCC is also moving ahead with the establishment of service centres for SMEs, which will provide workspaces, equipment, and support services. These facilities will enable entrepreneurs and creatives to operate more efficiently and work from anywhere in the country without difficulty, Eeman said.
Eeman noted that many local manufacturers and entrepreneurs are already operating highly productive SMEs and contribute significantly to the domestic economy. He said BCC’s initiatives are intended to further strengthen these contributions and support long-term growth.
As part of its strategy to build a sustainable creative economy, BCC has been consulting artists and industry professionals, holding information sessions in Malé and several islands, and seeking expert input to shape its programmes.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has designated 2026 and 2027 as years of focused development measures for small and medium enterprises. The President has also stated that the Government aims to generate 15 per cent of national GDP from creative industries, positioning the sector as a key pillar of future economic growth.
