Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has reported steady progress on land reclamation works at Hulhumalé Phase III, with 55 hectares reclaimed so far, accounting for 87 per cent of the project’s total scope.
In a project update, MACL said reclamation activities are currently being carried out using two dredgers, Prins der Nederlanden and Oranje, each capable of handling up to 22,000 cubic metres of material.
According to the company, reclamation works for Phase III resumed on 10 November 2025 and have continued at a consistent pace since then, supported by the deployment of heavy dredging equipment.
The Hulhumalé Phase III project involves the reclamation of a total of 63 hectares of land, intended to support future urban expansion and development initiatives within the Greater Malé Region. With most of the planned area already reclaimed, the project is now approaching its final phase.
Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muththalib has stated that reclamation works at Hulhumalé Phase III are scheduled to be completed by 20 January 2026.
