The Ministry of Tourism and Environment has announced that seven new resorts are scheduled to open in the Maldives this year, bringing a significant increase in the country’s tourism bed capacity.
The new openings will further strengthen the Maldives’ tourism sector amid continued growth in visitor arrivals. Among the resorts set to open this year are Bulgari Resort Ranfushi, Six Senses Kanuhura, and Dhon Maaga Maldives.
Seven resort openings are planned for this year, compared to six resorts that commenced operations last year.
Latest statistics from the Ministry show that the total number of resorts operating in the Maldives reached 178 by the end of last year. This has brought the total number of beds available at resorts nationwide to 44,697.
The Maldives recorded a historic milestone in tourism last year, achieving 2.25 million tourist arrivals for the first time in a single year. The Ministry expects the opening of new resorts to support continued momentum in the sector, further boosting capacity and strengthening the Maldives’ position as a leading global tourism destination.
