Hussain Shafeeq has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL).

The appointment was confirmed by the Privatization and Corporatization Board, which stated that Shafeeq assumed the role on Wednesday. He has also been appointed to the company’s board of directors.

A Master Mariner by profession, Shafeeq brings over 35 years of experience in the maritime sector, including more than a decade serving as a captain on international voyages. He holds a Master Mariner Certificate of Competency and an Advanced Diploma in Maritime Science, along with several other professional qualifications.

Shafeeq’s appointment follows the resignation of former CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Rishwan.
