Minister of Tourism and Environment Thoriq Ibrahim has met with the Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Dr Nawal Al-Hosany, on the sidelines of the 16th Assembly of International Renewable Energy Agency.

The meeting featured constructive discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in sustainable energy. The two sides exchanged views on emerging innovations in renewable energy and explored ways to deepen collaboration to enhance energy security.

The Ministry said the talks reflect continued efforts to strengthen relations between the Maldives and the United Arab Emirates, while accelerating cooperation in the areas of environment and energy. It added that, under the policy direction of the Government led by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to protect the environment and transition to renewable energy, such international engagements are vital to securing technical expertise and financial support.

The Maldives continues to maintain close partnerships with international stakeholders as part of its efforts to advance sustainable development and build long-term energy resilience.
