Abdul Raheem Abdulla, Speaker of the Parliament, has departed for New Delhi, India, to attend the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth.

The conference will take place from January 13 to 18, 2026.

The Speaker is accompanied by a delegation comprising Mohamed Shahid, MP for Hulhudhoo Constituency; Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik, Chief of Bureau at Parliament; and Aishath Eaman, Senior Foreign Relations Officer of the Secretariat.

The conference brings together parliamentary leaders from across the Commonwealth to discuss strengthening democratic institutions, enhancing parliamentary cooperation, and addressing shared challenges.
