President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the North Ari Atoll Council to discuss the Atoll’s development needs.

The meeting, held on Sunday afternoon at the Council Secretariat, provided an opportunity for council members to raise their concerns and outline their requests for future growth.

Among the key requests, the council called for the establishment of Passport and National Identity Card services in North Ari Atoll. They also sought to have the lagoons brought under the council’s jurisdiction to boost the local economy and attract Government support for economic activities.

Additionally, the council emphasised the need to strengthen the decentralised governance system.

President Dr Muizzu assured the council that North Ari Atoll would receive the full support of the Government. He highlighted the airport project as a major development initiative for the Atoll’s future.

The President also confirmed that all atolls, including North Ari, would have access to Passport and National Identity Card services in the coming year. Furthermore, he reiterated his commitment to allocate a share of tourism tax revenues to local councils, helping to increase their financial resources for development projects.

The meeting concluded with an optimistic outlook for North Ari Atoll’s future, as the President reaffirmed the Government's dedication to supporting the Atoll's growth and addressing its needs.
