People’s National Congress (PNC) Parliamentary Group Leader Ibrahim Falah has said the steady growth in public support for the PNC reflects confidence in President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s leadership and development agenda.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the campaign office for PNC candidates in Vilimalé, Falah said recent party events have seen an increase in supporter turnout, which he described as a clear indication of public trust in the party.

Falah thanked supporters on behalf of PNC leader President Dr Muizzu, noting that the party has recorded unprecedented growth in membership since the President assumed office in 2023. He said the PNC currently has around 75,000 registered members, marking the highest number ever recorded by a political party in the Maldives.

Referring to concerns raised by the opposition regarding the party’s membership figures, Falah said statistics released by the Elections Commission show a continued increase in PNC membership, reflecting public support for the President’s policies and initiatives.

Addressing the upcoming local council elections, he said this is the first time in the country’s history that such a large number of candidates are contesting under a single political party, with 1,320 candidates running under the PNC banner. He said the high level of participation demonstrates strong public interest in contesting local elections under the party.

Falah urged residents to support PNC candidates to ensure that initiatives launched by the current Administration are implemented efficiently and without delays, emphasising the importance of cooperation between councils and the Government.

During his remarks, he also backed Major General (Rtd) Moosa Ali Jaleel as the PNC’s Malé City mayoral candidate, describing him as a sincere and honest individual with a long record of public service and thanked him for returning to serve the public. He further expressed confidence in the PNC candidates contesting in Vilimalé, stating that they would work in the best interests of residents and support national development efforts.

Concluding his remarks, He urged the people of Vilimalé to support the PNC candidates, Malé City mayoral candidate Jaleel, and Women’s Development Committee President Alaika in the local council elections scheduled for April 4.
