A re-draw for land plots at Giraavaru Falhu will be held following changes made to the island’s land use plan, the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has announced.

The Ministry said on Wednesday that revisions to the land use plan were finalised and gazetted on 26 January 2026. Under the revised plan, a total of 4,072 plots will be allocated at Giraavaru Falhu.

As a result of the changes, including a shortfall of 610 plots under the previous arrangement, the Ministry has decided to conduct a re-draw to determine new plot numbers for land recipients. The draw is scheduled to take place on 31 January 2026 at 9:30 am at the Social Centre.

Under the revised allocation, the plots comprise 2,603 plots of 1,250 square feet, 1,214 plots of 1,650 square feet, 254 plots of 2,050 square feet, and one plot measuring 2,450 square feet.

The Ministry said the draw will be conducted by designated Ministry officials. Only one person per plot will be allowed to enter the draw area. If a representative attends on behalf of a land recipient, entry will be permitted upon presentation of the official notice, along with copies of the identity cards of both the land recipient and the representative.

Plot allocations will be updated on the Hiyaavehi Portal during the draw, with recipients receiving their plot numbers via SMS.

The Ministry said details regarding the signing of land transfer agreements and the handover of land registry documents will be announced at a later date, following the completion of the draw.

Following the completion of land reclamation at Hulhumalé Phase III, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu stated that reclamation works at Giraavaru Falhu will be the next priority.
