The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Coast Guard ship Huravee has taken part in the International Fleet Review currently underway in Visakhapatnam, India.
The fleet review is being held from February 15 to 25 and brings together naval vessels from participating countries at a single location for a large-scale maritime display and engagement.
This year’s event has drawn participation from 74 countries across the world. A total of 85 naval vessels are involved, including 66 ships from the Indian Navy and 19 vessels representing foreign nations. In addition, three Indian Navy submarines and more than 60 military aircraft are participating in the review.
Senior military officials from participating countries conducted a review of the assembled fleet at sea. Representing the Maldives military at this year’s event is the Commandant of the MNDF Coast Guard, Brigadier General Mohamed Saleem.
During his visit to India for the fleet review, Brigadier General Saleem held meetings with delegations from Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka and Australia. Discussions focused on cooperation in ensuring maritime safety and security and on strengthening collaborative efforts in the region.
