Over 418,000 tourists have arrived in the Maldives so far this year, reflecting a 9.5 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2025, according to the latest statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment.
The Ministry said a total of 418,034 tourists had visited the Maldives as of 22 February 2026, up from 381,870 arrivals recorded during the same period last year.
China remains the Maldives’ largest source market so far this year, with 67,185 arrivals, followed by Russia (46,636), Italy (40,345), the United Kingdom (38,162) and Germany (24,980).
Resorts continued to account for the largest share of tourist accommodation, with 283,272 visitors staying at resorts during the period. A further 111,390 tourists stayed at guesthouses, while smaller numbers stayed at hotels and tourist vessels.
According to the Ministry, the Maldives continues to record an average of more than 8,000 tourist arrivals per day during peak periods. The majority of visitors entered the country by air, with over 416,000 arrivals recorded via airports, while around 1,065 visitors arrived by sea.
Tourism authorities said sustained growth in arrivals reflects strong demand from key markets and continued international air connectivity to the Maldives, with officials noting that visitor numbers are trending higher than last year despite seasonal fluctuations.
