Major General Retired Moosa Ali Jaleel conferred the Grand Order of Military Honour

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu honoured Major General Retired Moosa Ali Jaleel with the Grand Order of Military Honour (GOMH) on Sunday during the Victory Day ceremony, acknowledging his exemplary contributions to national security and defence. 

The President, invoking his constitutional authority, presented this award under the Maldives Honour Act.

Major General Retired Moosa Ali Jaleel’s military career began as a Lance Corporal in 1980, and he later held various leadership roles in the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), ultimately serving as Chief of Defence Force until his retirement in 2012. 

His legacy includes a heroic role in the November 3, 1988, terror attack, during which he directly engaged attackers as the Infantry Unit Task Force Commander. Throughout his 31-year career, he earned numerous service ribbons and medals, including the Medal for Exceptional Bravery, the Purple Heart, and the 3rd November Medal.

Following his military service, Major General Retired Moosa Ali Jaleel has continued his dedication to the nation as the Minister of Defence and National Security and the Maldivian High Commissioner to Pakistan, embodying a lifetime commitment to safeguarding the Maldives’ sovereignty.
