Non-Resident Ambassador of the Maldives to Austria, Dr Salma Rasheed, presented her Letters of Credence to Federal President of Austria Dr Alexander Van der Bellen at a ceremony held at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna.

During the meeting that followed, Ambassador Dr Salma conveyed greetings and best wishes from President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, as well as from the Government and the people of the Maldives, to the Federal President, the Government and the people of Austria.

Ambassador Dr Salma also recalled the longstanding friendly relations between the Maldives and Austria and reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including commercial diplomacy and people-to-people engagement.

During her visit to Vienna, the ambassador also met with senior officials of Austria’s Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, where discussions focused on enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation in multilateral forums.

Ambassador Dr Salma was accompanied at the credential presentation ceremony by Aishath Rayahyn, Second Secretary at the Permanent Mission of the Maldives to the United Nations Offices in Geneva.

The Ambassador also serves as the Permanent Representative of the Maldives to the United Nations Offices in Geneva and as the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Maldives to the Swiss Confederation.
