The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has announced plans to hold three days of Eid celebrations in the Greater Malé Region to celebrate Eid al-Fitr.

According to MNDF, the Eid festivities will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Eid day and will continue for three days, with activities organised for families and children.

The celebrations will take place across Malé, Hulhumalé and Vilimalé. In Malé City, events will be held at the Islamic Centre to Sultan Park, Republic Square and the Izzudin Jetty area. Activities in Hulhumalé will be held at Central Park and Hiyaa Park in Hulhumalé Phase II, while celebrations in Vilimalé will take place at the Vilimalé Football Stadium.

The Government is also preparing to reopen Sultan Park as part of the Eid festivities.

MNDF stated that several Government institutions and State-owned companies will participate in the celebrations. The companies involved include STELCO, MWSC, WAMCO, MPL, HDC, STO, MACL, RDC, MTCC and MIFCO, which will set up stalls and organise activities at the event venues.

The Eid celebrations will include sports and entertainment programmes, games and interactive activities for children, as well as opportunities for the public to view military and police equipment, uniforms, and land and sea vessels, and take photographs.

The celebrations are being organised with the aim of strengthening family bonds and providing a festive environment for the public during Eid al-Fitr 1447.
