MVR 500,000 from Zakat al-Fitr collected this year has been allocated to support humanitarian assistance for residents of Gaza, Palestine.

Maldives Zakat House stated that the funds were handed over to Isra Association on Thursday to provide food aid to people in Gaza.

In addition, MVR 423,749 has been allocated to the Trust Fund established under the Ministry of Social and Family Development to assist individuals facing financial hardship. Zakat House confirmed that the funds have been transferred to the Ministry for this purpose.

A total of MVR 15,009,749 was collected as Zakat al-Fitr during Ramadan this year, marking the highest amount recorded to date and reflecting a significant increase compared to the past three years.

With the rise in contributions, the amount distributed to eligible recipients has also increased. Each registered beneficiary received MVR 6,000 from Zakat al-Fitr funds this year.
