The Government has announced a fuel subsidy for vessels specialising in yellowfin tuna fishing, with the measure taking effect from today.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources announced the decision via its official X account, stating that yellowfin tuna fishing vessels are now eligible to purchase fuel at a subsidised price from the Hulhumalé FSM terminal and the Kaafu Himmafushi FSM shed.

The subsidy has been introduced in response to rising fuel prices driven by the ongoing Middle East conflict, with the Government seeking to ensure that the fisheries industry continues to operate without disruption.
