President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended congratulations on behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives to Balendra Shah following his inauguration as Prime Minister of Nepal.

In a letter addressed to Shah, President Dr Muizzu highlighted the strong participation of youth and calls for reform that shaped the lead-up to the country’s recent general election. He described the outcome as a significant moment in Nepal’s democratic journey.

The President reaffirmed Nepal as an important bilateral partner, noting that both countries share common priorities and similar perspectives on challenges faced by South Asian nations. He expressed his intention to work closely with the government of Nepal to further strengthen ties and expand cooperation at both regional and international levels.

President Dr Muizzu also conveyed his best wishes for Shah’s good health and success in office, as well as for the continued peace, progress and prosperity of Nepal.

Shah, a rapper-turned-politician, secured victory in the general election amid a wave of youth-led momentum that drove calls for political reform. He was sworn in as Prime Minister on Friday.
