People’s National Congress (PNC) has launched Malé City Women’s Development Committee (WDC)'s “Badhahi Aailaa” manifesto, outlining key priorities aimed at addressing social and community issues in the capital.

The manifesto was unveiled at an event held on 29 March at the Sultan Park, attended by Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar, PNC candidates contesting for the Malé WDC and party members, with candidates sharing concerns raised by residents during door-to-door campaign activities.

The manifesto is structured around three main focus areas—providing adequate living space, strengthening compassion and care, and enhancing self-sufficiency—with proposed measures including improving street safety, increasing family parks, establishing childcare spaces and indoor community halls, as well as developing frameworks to support families at an individual level.

Under the strengthening compassion and care, the manifesto includes initiatives to assist with childcare, prioritise the dignity and wellbeing of the elderly, strengthen public health systems and ensure access to safe shelter, while the self-sufficiency component outlines plans to establish women-led cooperatives, expand digital literacy programmes, introduce parent-friendly co-working spaces and build partnerships with the private sector.

Speaking at the event, Baarah Member of Parliament Ibrahim Shujau said PNC’s candidate for the Malé WDC president, Uza Ashiyath Alaika Adhnan, would work to implement the manifesto, expressing confidence that the committee would deliver practical solutions.
