Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar has said the People’s National Congress (PNC) will field a strengthened and capable team for the Malé City Women’s Development Committee (WDC), expressing confidence that the committee will bring a different approach to addressing issues faced by residents.

The minister made the remarks while speaking at the launch of PNC Malé WDC’s “Badhahi Aailaa” manifesto, where he highlighted that the party’s candidates are working collectively towards clear goals, noting that the composition of the team reflects a focused effort to deliver practical solutions to challenges in the city.

He added said Uza Ashiyath Alaika Adhnan, the party’s candidate for the Malé WDC president, is a capable candidate committed to addressing issues faced by women and working towards meaningful outcomes through the committee.

The “Badhahi Aailaa” manifesto outlines three key priority areas—providing living space, strengthening compassion and care, and increasing self-sufficiency—with proposed measures including improving street safety, expanding family parks, establishing childcare spaces and indoor community halls, and implementing frameworks to support families at an individual level.

It also includes initiatives to support childcare, promote the wellbeing and dignity of the elderly, strengthen public health systems and ensure access to safe shelter, alongside plans to establish women-led cooperatives, expand digital literacy programmes, introduce parent-friendly co-working spaces and build partnerships with the private sector.
