PNC mayoral candidate Moosa Ali Jaleel casts vote in nationwide polls

Major General (Retired) Moosa Ali Jaleel, the Malé City mayoral candidate of the People’s National Congress, cast his vote on Saturday in the ongoing Local Council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections, alongside the public referendum on holding concurrent presidential and parliamentary elections.

Moosa Ali Jaleel voted at the South Henveiru constituency polling station located at Kalaafaanu School.

In addition to the mayoral candidate, Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed also cast their ballots earlier in the day. President Dr Muizzu voted at Thaajuddeen School in the South Maafannu constituency, while Sajidha Mohamed voted at Aminiya School in the North Machchangolhi constituency.

Voting for the Local Council elections, WDC elections, and the public referendum began at 8:00 a.m. nationwide. The referendum seeks to gauge public opinion on whether presidential and parliamentary elections should be held on the same day in the future.
