The Maldives Police Service has reported that five men who were found unconscious on a boat at Malé North Harbour on Saturday morning are currently receiving treatment.

Police said the incident was reported at 6:35 a.m., prompting an immediate response from authorities.

According to preliminary findings, the men are believed to have lost consciousness due to a generator operating in an enclosed area on the vessel. The individuals were identified as four expatriates and one Maldivian.

Authorities have since issued a public advisory, warning against the use of generators in enclosed spaces, particularly in areas used for sleeping or resting. Police noted that generator fumes can lead to loss of consciousness and pose serious health risks.

The public has also been urged to ensure proper ventilation in such areas to prevent similar incidents.
