The People’s Majlis has approved the appointment of non-resident ambassadors to Argentina and Bosnia and Herzegovina, following a request submitted by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

The nominations were reviewed by the Foreign Relations Committee of the People's Majlis, which presented its report to the parliamentary floor ahead of the vote. Members subsequently approved the appointments of Ali Naseer Mohamed as Ambassador to Argentina and Aishath Shaan Shakir as Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to the voting results, 55 members voted in favour of Ali Naseer Mohamed’s appointment, while 54 members supported the appointment of Aishath Shaan Shakir.

Under Maldivian law, ambassadors are appointed by the President with the approval of Parliament, following review by the relevant parliamentary committee.
