The Youth Leadership Camp organised by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fitness has concluded successfully in Kaafu Huraa.

Held from 14 to 17 May, the three-day camp brought together 31 young people aged between 16 and 25. The programme was designed to strengthen leadership skills and empower participants to take on more active and responsible roles in society.

The camp was organised in collaboration with the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), the Maldives Police Service and the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC).

During the camp, the MNDF conducted sessions on self-defence, leadership traits, functional leadership and command tasks, along with outdoor demonstration activities. Participants also took part in fire awareness sessions and practical rescue swimming exercises.

The Maldives Police Service delivered sessions on crime prevention and the theoretical aspects of rescue swimming.

The National Counter Terrorism Centre conducted a special session on Youth, Peace and Security, highlighting the role of young people in promoting social cohesion and national security.

The Ministry added that the camp also included sessions aimed at fostering a spirit of mutual support among young people and equipping them with practical ways to seek and offer assistance when facing various challenges.

Participants were selected through an open application process announced earlier this month.

The Ministry stated that the main objective of such camps is to broaden the role of young people in society and nurture a new generation of responsible leaders.
