Commissioner of Police Ahmed Faseeh has departed on an official visit to Egypt to strengthen security cooperation between the Maldives and Egypt and enhance joint efforts to combat cross-border crime.
The Maldives Police Service said the visit, facilitated through the Embassy of the Maldives in Egypt, began on Sunday and will continue until 21 May.
As part of the visit, the two countries are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation on security matters and efforts to prevent cross-border crimes.
During the visit, Commissioner Faseeh is scheduled to hold meetings with senior officials from Egypt’s national security sector.
The visit programme also includes tours of rehabilitation and correctional facilities, as well as training centres linked to areas relevant to policing and law enforcement.
Police said the visit is expected to further strengthen ties between Egypt’s Ministry of Interior and the Maldives Police Service, while expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest related to security and law enforcement.
