First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed has launched comprehensive national guidelines for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexually Transmitted Infections at a ceremony held today.

The ceremony took place at Meerumaa Hall to mark International AIDS Day, which is observed annually on December 1.

Following the launch, experts engaged in a panel discussion examining the prevalence of these diseases in the Maldives, focusing on detection methods and early intervention strategies.

This marks the first revision of the guidelines in nine years and encompasses HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexually Transmitted Infections protocols, which align with the latest World Health Organisation (WHO) recommendations.

The establishment of these guidelines represents a significant milestone for healthcare provision in the Maldives.
