Creating a "digital-first" nation where opportunities are not determined by geography is one of the central goals of the Maldives 2.0 initiative, Minister of Homeland Security, Labour and Technology Ali Ihusaan has said.

Speaking at the launch of the Digital for All campaign, Minister Ihusaan said achieving that vision depends on citizens embracing emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and developing the skills needed to participate in the country's growing digital economy. He described the campaign as a nationwide capacity-building programme that will reach every atoll over the next three years.

Minister Ihusaan said artificial intelligence and digital technologies are reshaping how people live, work, conduct business and access public services, making digital literacy increasingly important. He called on Government institutions, councils, the private sector, civil society organisations, women's development committees, neighbourhood associations and international development partners to support the campaign.

The minister said the campaign signifies an important step in implementing the Maldives 2.0 roadmap by helping develop the skilled workforce needed for a trusted digital economy. He added that it is designed to equip people to make effective use of existing and future digital infrastructure, creating greater economic and social opportunities across the country.
