Hulhumalé Hospital has achieved several major milestones through the introduction of new healthcare services as part of the Government’s efforts to strengthen the health sector, Chief Executive Officer of the Malé City Group of Hospitals Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem has said.

In a post on social media, CEO Haleem outlined recent developments at the hospital, stating the progress reflects the Government’s commitment to achieving the healthcare targets set out by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu in this year’s Presidential Address. He said the MCGH takes great pride in helping deliver these improvements.

CEO Haleem noted that several of the services announced by President Dr Muizzu have already been introduced at Hulhumalé Hospital to provide residents with easier access to specialist healthcare closer to home. He added that gastroenterology, neurology and urology services are scheduled to begin at the hospital later this week, ahead of Independence Day.

The CEO also highlighted several recent achievements at the hospital, including the launch of its first full-time consultant oncologist service, the introduction of the Maldives’ first consultant sub-specialist breast surgeon service, and the start of comprehensive glaucoma treatment with the country’s first Maldivian glaucoma specialist.

He also noted the graduation of the first batch of 15 doctors who completed their medical internship at Hulhumalé Hospital.

CEO Haleem said these achievements were made possible through the dedication of healthcare professionals, the guidance and priority given to the health sector by President Dr Muizzu, and the continued support of the Government, the Ministry of Health Family, and Welfare, and other stakeholders.

He added that the hospital remains committed to providing accessible, high-quality, patient-centred and compassionate healthcare services to the Maldivian people.
