The Government has launched the national 'Digital for All' campaign to equip Maldivians with digital and artificial intelligence (AI) skills as part of the Maldives 2.0 digital transformation agenda.
Jointly led by the Ministry of Homeland Security, Labour and Technology and the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Skills Development, the campaign aims to provide people of all ages with the knowledge and confidence to safely use digital technologies and participate in an increasingly digital society. It is being implemented by the Future Institute, the education and capacity-building arm of MINDCo, with support from MINDCo and Maldives Digital Services.
The campaign was officially launched by Minister of Education, Higher Education and Skills Development Dr Ismail Shafeeu, who said the initiative is intended to reduce dependence on others when using digital tools and services while equipping future generations with essential digital skills. Minister of Homeland Security, Labour and Technology Ali Ihusaan said the country's digital transformation depends not only on investing in technology, but also in developing the people who use it.
Training will be delivered free of charge in Dhivehi and English through trained facilitators, Government institutions, island councils, workplaces, non-governmental organisations and online platforms. Participants will receive nationally recognised digital competency certification through a Digital Skills Passport, while facilitators will be recognised as Digital Champions.
The Government aims to equip 225,000 people with digital and AI skills through the campaign by 2028, supporting its vision of building an inclusive, digitally empowered nation where no one is left behind.
