Maldives Immigration will relaunch its mobile application next week with new features, including passport applications and visa services, Controller General of Immigration, CP (Retd) Ahmed Faseeh has announced.

Faseeh made the announcement during the inauguration of the Immigration Walk of Legacy exhibition, saying the upgraded application will allow users to apply for passports, access visa-related services and complete other immigration transactions through a single platform.

He said the relaunch builds on the Immigration 2.0 system introduced in November last year, when the institution completed the digitisation of its services. The latest version of the app is expected to expand the range of services available to the public through mobile devices.

Faseeh said the Maldives is among the fastest countries in the world to issue passports and noted that passport services have also been expanded beyond Malé, with applications now available through 38 service points across the country to reduce the need for atoll residents to travel to the capital.

He also said further measures are being introduced to improve the experience of people seeking immigration services, including initiatives aimed at making services more accessible for elderly users.
