Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced that repair works on Ameenee Magu will begin next week to address deteriorating road conditions.

Speaking to State media, MTCC General Manager Ibrahim Hassan said work will commence following the award of the project by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development on 15 July.

The project will focus on repairing the western side of Ameenee Magu, where raised and damaged asphalt has created difficulties for motorists and other road users. In addition to resurfacing the road, the project will include improvements to pavement designs, including areas around bus stops.

Ameenee Magu was previously redeveloped under an MVR 84.4 million project carried out by the previous administration, covering approximately 1.79 kilometres of the road. However, sections of the road have since deteriorated, requiring further repair works.

The Government has said the latest project is intended to improve road safety and provide a smoother travel experience for commuters.
