The Presidential Commission investigating the recent rooftop incident in Henveiru, Malé City, which took place on 18 April 2025, has issued a formal statement.

As part of the ongoing investigation, the Commission confirmed via a post on X, that it had conducted its initial questioning of 21-year-old Raudh Ahmed Zilal in relation to the incident.

To facilitate public involvement, the Commission has established an official portal through which individuals may submit relevant information. Members of the public are also encouraged to share details by visiting the Commission’s office in person or submitting written reports.

Investigators from the Commission have visited the scene where the fall occurred and engaged with employees of the associated agencies as part of their inquiry.

At the Commission’s first press conference, Chairman Dr Mohammed Munawwar affirmed that the investigation would be conducted impartially. He further assured the public that neither he nor the Commission would be subject to any external influence.

In connection with the investigation, and under a court order, the police have seized mobile phones belonging to seven individuals. These include Raudh, the woman who fell from the rooftop, and several of their associates. Authorities have also obtained a court-issued travel ban against eight persons linked to the case. Additionally, two residential properties have been searched under judicial authorisation.
