Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan, broke ground on the construction of the Noonu Maafaru Police Station today. The new facility is aimed at enhancing law enforcement services in the region.
The ceremony took place during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s ongoing tour of Noonu Atoll and was attended by the President, Cabinet ministers, and members of the Maafaru Island Council.
The Maafaru Police Station is being developed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), under the government initiative to establish police stations in 75 inhabited islands across the Maldives.
As part of this national project, MTCC has been awarded contracts to construct 15 police stations, including Maafaru, while the Road Development Corporation (RDC) will construct 20 stations, and Fenaka Corporation will be responsible for 40.
This initiative is part of the Government’s commitment to ensuring accessible and effective police services in all inhabited islands.
