President discusses development priorities and community needs with Maafaru Council and WDC

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has met with members of the Maafaru Council, the Women’s Development Committee (WDC), and heads of local institutions to discuss the island’s development priorities and address community needs.

This meeting was held at the Maafaru Fenaka Office during the President’s visit to Noonu Atoll. 

During the meeting, the Council highlighted pressing issues, including the need for a sustainable solution to the island’s electricity challenges, as well as improvements in the health and education sectors.

Additionally, they raised concerns about Maafaru International Airport and the requirements needed to complete the terminal.

During the meeting, cabinet ministers and heads of Government institutions provided updates on ongoing development projects in Maafaru and outlined the government’s efforts to address public concerns.

Prior the meeting, the President attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Maafaru Police Station, which was initiated by the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan.
