MVR 95.3 million disbursed for Government scholarships in 2025

The Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development has reported that MVR 95.3 million has been disbursed so far in 2025 under various Government scholarship schemes.
According to statistics shared for both 2024 and 2025, a total of 268 students are currently enrolled in Government-funded scholarships. This includes 178 female students and 90 male students. The number of graduates recorded to date stands at 357, comprising 220 females and 137 males.
In 2025 alone, 45 new students received scholarships. Among them were 34 females and 11 males. During the same period, 48 students graduated, including 30 females and 18 males.
The Ministry stated that 607 students are currently pursuing their studies under 93 scholarship programmes in 20 countries. This includes 387 female students and 220 male students.
The scholarship offerings include the High Achievers’ Scholarship Scheme, which is available to students who achieve five A grades or more in A Level and HSC subjects, including Dhivehi and Islam. The Presidential Scholarship, regarded as the most prestigious, is awarded to students who obtain five A star grades in the same subject categories. In addition to these, other scholarship programmes are provided by both the Maldivian Government and foreign governments.
